Urban Paws Magazine ~ July/August

The new Urban Paws has just hit the stands, and the cover I shot this month features Buzz, a very rambunctious but very lovable Jack Russell terrier. We took Buzz on location to the Lakewood Yacht club in Seabrook, and had a great time....even when we had to chase him down a few times! You can read more about Buzz and other adoptable dogs in this month's issue of Urban Paws Magazine, on stands now!

A Birthday Surprise

I first met Linda at the Spring Pet Portrait Event at A Dog's Life back in March. This June, I was delighted to get a call from her saying she would like to schedule another session....this time as a special surprise for her husband's birthday and Father's Day gift!

Thanks to the help of her daughter Lindsay, we managed to get just what she had in mind...some great images of her with her three dogs: Grace, Jack & Lily. It was so much fun, and you'd never guess in a million years what the treat of choice was for motivating her rambunctious trio. BROCCOLI! Yep, broccoli. See the bits of green in her hand? Thanks, Linda & Lindsey, for a super fun session. And Happy Birthday, David!

Pawty Palace Grand Opening Mini-Sessions

The Pawty Palace celebrated it's official Grand Opening with a big celebration, and part of that was hosting a Pet Portrait Event. Here are a few of my favorites...

An evening with Tina Turner (almost) at the Hotel ZaZa

Last weekend I got to really mix it up from my usual routine...with no dogs, babies, or children to be seen!

While photographing a corporate awards banquet, I had a fancy evening out at the Hotel ZaZa in midtown Houston, in a gorgeous ballroom overlooking Hermann Park.

The ZaZa is really just an incredible place! Super elegant but with a funky kind of twist...definitely a unique hotel with a lot of character.

And as if it wasn't enough fun just to be in such a posh setting, the entertainment for the evening was none other than.... Tina Turner! See? Ok, ok....to be perfectly honest it wasn't really Tina. But you can see why the guests were simply amazed at singer/performer Connie Garrett's fab tribute. She rocked the evening and it was just a whole lot of fun. The photos really say it all, I think!

Baby Love

As a photographer, I've done a little of this and a little of that....whatever comes my way. I like the variety; it keeps things fresh! Back in April, I did a baby photo shoot for the first time and it took me right back to the days when mine were that tiny. What a pleasure to once again capture those tiny baby smiles, baby toes, baby belly buttons.... here's just a few!

Young Love

Bells will ring....the sun will shine....Ahhhh, young love! A few weekends ago I had the privilege of photographing the wedding shower of a couple out in Katy. The shower was given by the Sunday School class of the mother of the bride, and it was such a sweet time of fellowship among a very tight-knit group of friends. Best wishes to you, Sarah & Daniel! May you have a very blessed life together...
PS: In case you're wondering, YES! The cake was just as delicious as it was gorgeous! If you happen to be looking for someone to create a fabulous & scrumptious special occasion cake, call Diane at That's Good Cake!

When you need a little help from your friends...

Many child and family photographers (myself included) have their passion for photos first sparked by their own little ones. The great irony in this is that soon, your own children are just plain worn out from having Mommy whip out the camera for any reason--or no reason at all! Not to mention the fact that when Mom's always *taking* pictures, she never gets to be in them!
That's when it's nice to be able to turn over the camera to a friend...and that's just what a local photographer friend of mine did when we had a playdate-turned-photo session with all our girls. Here are a few of my favorites...
